Alutgama is the next town passing Bentota towards Colombo along the Colombo-Galle main road. Those towns are literally next to each other, but separated by the bridge. Alutgama offers two different worlds: a characteristic of ethnicity by the local Sri Lankans and resorts. Unlike other coastal areas in Sri Lanka, there are budget hotels, Guesthouses and hostels, specially arranged for tourist around the city.
There are livery markets and shops where many native fresh fish, vegetables and fruits are sold.
It is an old historical Buddhist temple with a large statue of load Buddha.
It is located directly on the Bentota River. They provide various water sports including windsurfing, surfing, waterskiing, waterboarding, body boarding, banana ride, tube ride, jet skiing, deep sea fishing, river fishing, snorkeling, diving, and river cruises.
